Summary: Cellular solids have attracted great attentions in engineering applications due to their excellent mechanical and physical behaviours. This presentation will briefly introduce the application background in the impact dynamics and a meso-scale method to understand their macroscopic mechanical behaviours. In particular, image-based modelling based on 3D x-ray tomography will be introduced, based on which several outstanding issues about the apparent elastic modulus in the compressive deformation of cellular solids will be clarified. In addition, gas effects on the dynamic behaviour of closed cell cellular solids will be discussed.




个人简介:北京大学科学学士及硕士,英国利物浦大学哲学博士及荣誉工程博士(DEng),英国机械工程师协会会士FIMechE)。现任英国曼彻斯特大学教授及冲击爆炸实验室主任,北京理工大学国家爆炸科学与技术重点实验室特聘教授主要从事冲击动力学方面的基础与应用研究。研究内容包括结构抗冲击动力学,结构抗冲击防护,弹体侵彻穿甲力学,材料高应变率下的动态性能及测试方法,抗冲击吸能结构及材料,多孔介质材料力学性能,结构非线性动力响应等方面。<<国际防护结构杂志>><<防护技术杂志>>等期刊编委,<<国际冲击工程杂志>>副主编。
